Health Benefits Of Ginger

Wednesday 13th January 2010

During my first pregnancy I remember complaining to my doctor about morning sickness. His cure was to eat a ginger biscuit before I got out of bed in the morning, and it worked!

Ginger has been used as a medicine and as a spice for hundreds of years in India and China but is now cultivated in many countries across the world.

More commonly used in cookery as a spice or flavouring in biscuits, cakes, soups, pickles and curries, ginger also has a great number of medicinal qualities particularly when it comes to the internal workings of the stomach.

Mainly used as a natural aid to stop nausea, motion sickness, morning sickness and any general stomach upsets, ginger can also help alleviate those all too common colds and improve your circulation.

By far the easiest way to take ginger is in a home made tea, and here is how you can do it:

Peel the ginger root and slice it into thin slices. Bring a pan of water to a boil. Once the water is boiling, add your sliced ginger. Cover the pan and reduce to a simmer for 15 minutes. Strain the tea and add honey and lemon to taste should you require it.

So if you need a quick fix remedy try this tea out and let me know how it helped you.

If you can try and have some ginger before you even get out of bed in the morning, the results will be great.
